Eric Tiller introduced our speaker, Ken Holtyn of Holtyn & Associates. Amongst his many accomplishments, Ken is a board member at the Centers for Disease Control, Chair of the Michigan Step up Campaign, and is active in Worksite Wellness programs. Ken and his staff go into worksites to talk about best practices for Wellness in the Workplace. Choices in lifestyle affect an individuals health risks. With health risks rise in the workplace, healthcare costs rise. When health risks decrease, healthcare costs also go down. With healthy lifestyles, productivity increases. The best way to address wellness in the work place is to educate, institute best practices through one on one coaching. This is the philosophy of Holtyn & Associates. You must create a culture and provide an environment that promotes fitness and addresses issues like elevated blood pressure, cholesterol, triglycerides, and glucose. Goals must be set and skills should be developed. You need to motivate people, provide them with resources and do follow-up.
