Barb Walters announced that an outstanding Group Study Exchange team has been named for the April trip to Argentina after a very competitive selection process. The 2009 District 6360 team of four young professionals includes the applicant sponsored by Rotary of Kalamazoo: Linda Tkacayk, Spanish teacher at Lawton High School who believes this opportunity will make her a more diverse Spanish instructor. Amy Remmert reminded Rotarians that hosts are needed in May for the Group Study Exchange team from Argentina. Hosting is a "great opportunity to learn about other cultures," she said. And it is a great way to meet some of the finest young people in those cultures. Bob Kent introduced the speaker for the day, Brian J. Mullally, CEO and co-founder of Kalamazoo-based Globefunder. A graduate of Georgetown University, the University of Notre Dame and a Certified Financial Planner, Mullally worked with Goldman Sachs and Greenleaf Trust. A large part of Globefunder's work is to assist hospitals in creating non-profit health initiatives that make it possible for people to pay their bills. Loan programs, flex pay and installment payments are among the solutions Globefunder is creating. Mullally said Globefunder is a "an entrepreneurial story."
