President Judy called the meeting to order, Charles Martell delivered an invocation on thankfulness and Richard Piet of WKZO shared news of the day. Tim Kilmartin listed the voluminous Art News covering art, music, theatre and dance. Of special note is the Gilmore Festival kick-off and announcement of our Rotary meeting of April 28 to be held at the Civic with lunch to follow at KIA. Guests: Rob Peterson introduced the lone visiting Rotarian, Cindy Carter. Rotarians introduced guests: Karl Sandelin - Melike Winkworth, Dan Gustin - Carol Janowicz, Dale Hein - Bill Murphy, Giff Blaylock - Reverend Charles Cesky, Reverend Milton Wells - Joyce Wells. In honor of today's program, Jon Pellowe and John Dillworth led us in a well performed "What a Wonderful World".
Announcements: Announcements included Marv Billingham turning in the red badge for a blue. Future meetings include two off-premise events. On Monday, April 28, we meet at the Civic Theatre for a concert from 12-1 p.m., followed by lunch at the KIA. Then on May 5 we will join Battle Creek area clubs for a joint meeting at the Sherman Lake YMCA where the speaker will be David MacKay, CEO of the Kellogg Company. Happy Bucks: Greta Williams and Karl Sandelin for FIT MI kickoff next Saturday; Amy Remmert for Big Brothers, Big Sisters 50th anniversary; John Dillworth for daughter's WMU grad school acceptance; Mark Pawlowski for the return of Andrea Anderson, Gordon Duisterhof for trip to UN with twin grandkids and Jon Pellowe for a successful trip to surprise his kids (wow, what a brave man!), Jeff Lee for inspiration on the slopes of Vail and the discovery of a true hero. Program: Kathleen Tosco introduced Team Leader Bob Small and the members of District 6360's group study exchange. The team members Andrea Anderson, Adam Martin, Julia Gourley and Lesa Strausbaugh each took us through a lively sharing of their trip's highlights to the Philippines. We appreciate their efforts and share their joy in promoting international understanding.
