President Judy Moore called the meeting to order, Janice Brown gave the invocation, and Kristin Chesak gave the Arts News for the week.  After Richard Piet gave the WKZO version of the day's news, John Dillworth and Jerry Lord led Rotarians in the WMU Fight Song.

Amy Remmert recently returned from several weeks in Europe.  While she was visiting her hometown of Schiedam, Netherlands, Amy had the honor of being the first American Rotarian to attend a Schiedam De-veste Rotary meeting.  She was impressed by the friendly and helpful nature of the club members, and exchanged banners with them.  They were likely impressed by the fact that she could converse in Dutch with them!

Flu shots will be available next week at the Radisson during our meeting.  The cost is $30.00 for a shot or mist, and pneumonia shots will be available for $45.00.  Those eligible should remember to bring their Medicare cards.

District Raffle Tickets will be available for one more week for $20.00.  All proceeds will benefit the Rotary District Foundation.

Matt Bates, Mary Jo Asmus, Jeff Nord, Jill Eldrid and Barbara Miller were recognized for spending the weekend at the leadership camp for Strive students held at Camp Merrie Woode.

Congratulations to Barbara Walters, who has had another article published in the Rotarian Magazine (page 50).

Jennifer Lange was also recognized for the article in this month's issue of Encore Magazine (page 18) about her work with Colleagues International.

Dick Hodgman introduced Ambassador (Retired) Curtis Kamann, who gave a riveting presentation on Diplomacy and Iraq.  In addition to providing a historical perspective of the ongoing conflicts between Iraq, Iran, Yemen, Saudi Arabia, the US and Russia, Ambassador Kamann drew comparisons between the Gulf War and the current war with Iraq.  The situation we face today is quite different than the Gulf War because of the lack of diplomacy with which this war was entered into and has been waged.
