Kalamazoo Rotary - September 11

President Judy Moore called the meeting to order and requested a moment of silence in honor of PP Jim White after Pam Kingery shared a meaningful invocation based on "Guide My Feet".

Visiting Rotarians:  PP Bill Dimond and Cindy Carter joined guests Bryan Zocher (Brad Kaufman) and Larry Nichols (Thell Woods).

Football is in the air and songs certainly reinforced the feeling, albeit the "MSU Fight Song" and, of course, "The Streak".

Announcements:  Included a second Paul Harris fellowship for Kathleen Tosco.  President Judy added Amy Remmert (1 year) and Thell Woods (17 years) to the list of perfect attendance.  Check out the District Newsletter for a great article on Marv Ludwig.

Program:  President Judy took the stage to introduce District Governor Dick Sammis whose day job is a law practice specializing in criminal law and bankruptcy in the Benton Harbor/St. Joseph area.  Acting, singing, playing music and directing are his interests.  I think we saw a touch of that in his upbeat presentation.  He took us through a review of all things ROTARY in 25 minutes.  From "he profits most who gives most" to "take time to serve", it made you proud to be a Rotarian.  From Casa Amparo to Exchange and Leadership programs, from Group Study and Polio Eradication to Centers for Peace and Conflict Resolution, from Ambassadorial Scholars to World Community Service Projects - one will never be at a loss to answer "What do you do in Rotary?"  This reflection (or a little bit "sales drive" ) was enthusiastically presented.
