Kalamazoo Rotary - March 16, 2009

President-elect Deb Chope Hughes opened her inaugural meeting subbing for President Rex by introducing Sean McCann and his lilting Irish-flavored invocation.  Richard Piet of WKZO then shared the news of the day including Condoleeza Rice and former President George W. Bush speaking at the Economic Club of Southwest Michigan on April 30 and May 28.  He ended with several suggestions on the name for the new KPS middle school - contest details soon to be announced.  Richard's will probably not make the cut.  Kristen Chesak said there is a lot happening in the arts and she meant it.  From Riverdance to Orchestra from Planet X there is something for everyone.  For a complete list see www.KalArts.com

Visiting Rotarians:  Table hosts introduced Roger DenBraber (Otsego), Bill Dimond (Kal Sunrise), Jerry Kohel (Gull Lake) and Cobi Chalmers (Portage).

Program:  Robin Hall began her program by extolling "it's a wonderful day in the neighborhood".  This was top of mind with the beautiful day putting lots of smiles on faces.  She introduced a new service for seniors called Senior Move Assistance.  Her business focuses on those over 55 who are making a change and have lots of arrangements to make.  They could be moving to assisted living or downsizing while having lots of stuff to dispose of.  They will organize the move and set up the total living experience from placing slippers by the bed to placing food in the refrigerator.  They provide a smorgasbord of services to choose from and these services can be offered from state to state.  Brochures are available which list the services as well as a website:  http://www.seniormoveassistance.com/
